From Portugal to London to New York City: Bruna’s Journey
Bruna’s journey started at the age of 17 when she applied to a London University to take a BA in Theatre Arts. She was determined to pursue her passion for acting and, after months of hard work and perseverance, she got accepted. She describes her first year in London as a year filled with challenges that made her discover new layers of herself and made her really proud.
After her first year, she won a scholarship in result of excellent academic work, and she did her second year of college in New York.
This experience was completely different, but it was real which made her grow even more professionally and personally. In 2021, she graduated with First Class Honors and is now back in New York City to pursue her dream.
Challenges and Growth
Moving abroad from Portugal to London and to New York was and still is a challenge for Bruna. Living on the other side of the world in search of a dream has a cost and she is not talking about money.
It’s the cost of missing the people she loves and had to leave behind. It’s the cost of leaving her comfort zone and her financial, social, and mental stability. And the worst part is all of this won’t give her back the moments she lost with her family.
That’s the price you must pay when you want to pursue your dream, and that’s the biggest challenge.
The Turning Point
Bruna describes the turning point of her journey as the moment she moved to London and looked at the Tower Bridge.
She couldn’t believe that she was there, and she had to pinch herself. That moment was the spark that ignited the beginning of her journey.
Top 3 Inspirations
Bruna Sampaio has been inspired by many successful people in the entertainment industry, but her top three inspirations are Selena Gomez, Anne Hathaway, and Idina Menzel.
Selena Gomez has been her biggest inspiration since childhood, as she admires her growth as an artist and a person.
Anne Hathaway’s exceptional acting skills and ability to convey the story of every character she plays have made Bruna admire her so much.
Meanwhile, Idina Menzel’s remarkable voice and performance have sparked Bruna’s love for musical theatre, prompting her to watch various shows on both West End and Broadway.
